When clothes get a second chance

Behind 7teen38 is young designer Chris Hübner. His approach to fashion is not about mass-produced perfection. He is drawn to character, imperfection, distinctive details and the possibility of turning something ordinary into a personal original.

He works with both used and new clothes, transforming their design. Instead of leaving a perfectly wearable piece forgotten in a wardrobe, he gives it a new treatment and a reason to be worn again. This approach is called upcycling — turning something that already exists into something with new value.

Chris draws inspiration from punk, the avant-garde and the rock’n’roll aesthetic of the early seventies. The result is not an attempt to look like everyone else. Quite the opposite.

He already has two collections and an event of his own in Bratislava behind him. Now he is bringing his creative world to Chillout Bar in Nitra.

The collection on display will not be the only highlight of the pop-up. Chris will sew and customize clothes right there at the venue. He will set up a sewing machine and worktable in a dedicated space. He will also bring a range of patches, including his own designs printed in advance using screen printing. During the event, he can sew them on and combine them with other materials. Visitors will be able to watch the creative process up close.

If you have a hoodie, T-shirt or another piece that could use a change, bring it along and discuss the possibilities. Depending on what is feasible and how involved the alteration is, a new design may take shape during the evening. You do not need to buy new clothes to experience something new.

Current work by 7teen38, including the new collection, will also be available at the venue. For some visitors, it will be a first encounter with upcycling. For others, another reason to give second-hand clothes and their own wardrobe a chance.

From the studio straight into the rhythm of the evening

The 7teen38 pop-up will be neither a quiet exhibition nor a conventional shopping event. DJ BPURPP opens the music programme, followed by PHUNCH / CALLMEMAX and OSCARWORLDWIDE. DJ RØSTT / VLAKER will play the closing set. Fashion and music will share the evening rather than occupy separate worlds.

The connection between music and fashion is what makes an evening like this feel natural. Both are ways to express personal taste, identity and creative courage. One person comes for the performances, another for the design, someone else out of curiosity. And perhaps everyone leaves with fresh inspiration.

For one evening, Chillout will create a space where the young music scene meets independent fashion design — with the chance to become part of the process, rather than simply watch it.
